Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We enjoyed the dinosaur explanations very much. Kind of an old school museum. The Egypt exhibit was good but was a strange fit… it had more info on Egyptians but almost zero regarding the First Nations people who have lived in Vegas for over 10,000 years. We were disappointed there wasn’t more information on first peoples.

This place was such a welcome surprise! Right in the heart of Las Vegas, this place is full of historical artifacts and information. We weren't expecting much but ended up being blown away. How is this not one of the top things to do in Vegas? We loved it!

It was a boiling hot day, so I decided to do an indoor activity, and this is a little gem. It is really aimed at children, but I spent a very happy hour looking at the exhibits. It is a small museum, but filled and well set out. Lots for kids to touch and explore.

Bringing your kids to Vegas? Then put this on your list. I have never seen so many interesting things crammed into such a small building. I promise, your kids will love this and so will you.

Once year they participate in Las Vegas Science Fest and they have real -ologists (archeologists, paleontologists, biologists, etc.) Great time to become a donor to help fund events such as these!

If you love museums and are looking for a non-gambling, non-drinking thing to do and not spend a ton of money in Las Vegas, the Las Vegas Natural History Museum is the thing for YOU.

Our 30-ish year old guests, a civil engineer and nurse from Tanzania LOVED this museum. They especially enjoyed the Egypt/King Tut and…Africa exhibits! They told stories about their knowledge of nature there, and even learned that a couple things they believed about some of the animals were not true. They were impressed with the Leonardo Da Vinci exhibit - not surprising given his many engineering-related inventions. All staff members were very welcoming and took time to explain more about exhibits. A great time!

We’ve visited Las Vegas many times, but never with kids, and this was the first trip that I ever knew that Las Vegas has a Natural History Museum. It’s very easy to get to, just north of the strip. Plenty of parking. Entrance fees are very reasonable.
We went specifically to see the dinosaurs, and that exhibit was amazing. The dinosaurs are so huge, and loud!
The rest of the exhibits were diverse, and great too. Treasures of Egypt, Marine Life Gallery, African Savanna Gallery, International Wildlife Gallery, Wild Nevada Gallery, and the Prehistoric Mammals Gallery were all very interesting.
It’s a great place to spend a couple of hours with kids.

Not many people go to Las Vegas for the museums but I wanted to see this one. I was not disappointed. It is small and is easy to tour... A relaxing and educational experience....

It’s $12 for adults, but we didn’t pay much attention to the price for children. You can get in free with an ASTC museum membership.

How long should I plan to see this museum?

Two hours perhaps, although we've spent longer on our two visits there. Highlights: the Egyptian display, which some years ago was the display in the Luxor hotel (and then donated I believe to the museum). All reproductions, but very well done and historically accurate. We've enjoyed the display of Nevada desert animals as well as the small collection of rocks and minerals. The dinosaur display is rather outdated, I think, but kids would enjoy it anyway.
Anyone know how much a cab to the museum would be from the strip? Does a bus stop near by?

Via Lyft, it's about $15-$20 from the Flamingo to the museum. Taxis would be a bit more. There are certainly busses nearby, but I don't know the prices or schedules. You can access that information online, though it won't let me post a link here.
I'm going to Las Vegas in August. I'm staying at the Flamingo. Is the museum within walking distance? Any idea how much a cab might charge? Ty

It is about a mile to walk . I would take a taxi . There is also the mob museum about 2 blocks from Fremont street . I had lunch at Binion's Cacino like a step back in history
