They have nine large ponds with trees and bushes along the walkways. There are lots of birds both in the water and in the trees. They also have a boardwalk and observation tower. The staff is great and very knowledgeable about the birds. They will...More

I went birding here with the local Red Rock Audubon group. We saw avocets, wilson's snipe, teal, common goldeneye, ring-necked ducks, long-billed dowitchers, and black-necked stilt, and more. Ideal for birding!

For us East Coasters, this place was great! A lot of new birds for our Life List. About 100 acres (?) and quite a few ponds plus the surrounding desert area made for quite a few enjoyable hours checking out unfamiliar birds. The staff were...More

The preserve is a must see for our family since discovering it last year. It has birds we wouldn't see at home...and some we do. There is a Canada goose that wanders right up to you. We have a teen in a wheelchair as well...More

You don't have to be an avid birder to be entranced by what you see in this bird preserve. Even without the aid of binoculars you can be close to beautiful and exotic species such as Avocets, Stilts, Marsh hens and coots. Even the kids...More

The guy who was at the desk was very confusing trying to sign all 10 people in line at once and if we had something else to do we would have left. Since it was free we decided to stay and check it out. They...More

If you're thinking about visiting this place, then presumably you are NOT looking for glitz and glamor...or perhaps looking to escape it! I'm not a "birder" but I do enjoy being out in nature. I spent 2 hours strolling, enjoying the birds on the various...More

We enjoyed an hour at this Preseve watching local birds and waterfowl. However, can't rate it very highly as it was sparsely populated the time we were there and we did not see much activity. Not sure if that was simply the time of day...More

A wonderful half-day trip to take to get you away from all the lights and bells. Locals know the secrets :)

Their website says hours are from 6 a.m. until 2 p.m. with last admission at 1:30. From the reviews it sounds like there is a Visitor Center or some other sort of staffed access building. Is that staffed at 6 a.m. ? Thanks!

I'd say yes because you need to sign guest book before entering. It's a small center with a few items for sale and a small learning area. Enjoy.

The seasonal birds, such as ducks, migrate through, so I guess it would all depend on the weather conditions in the U.S. at the time of your trip. There are about 8 ponds to hold swimming fowl, so there's plenty of room... More
