Wonderful collection from the Gold Rush days. The volunteer that day was very knowledgable. If you like history its a must visit! Genoa was the 1st settlement in Nevada, small but worth seeing.

This museum had a nice selection of items depicting the area's history and other exhibits of interest. Unique to me was a description of the first ferris wheel (named after its inventor). It was gargantuan in size, especially for its time period. It amazed and entertained the public at the 1893 Columbian Exhibition in Chicago.

If you are in Genoa, don't miss this museum located in historic courthouse. Earnest and enthusiastic docent. Beautiful Washoe baskets. Original courthouse and jail and reconstructed school room would make it interesting for kids. Great place to spend an hour.

Great little museum with loads of interesting photos, artifacts, and stories. Genoa is the oldest town in Nevada, movies were filmed in the area. Great place to spend a weekend.

This was an interesting place but I would not make a special trip here. The Genoa Bar is way more interesting and you can get a cold beverage as well. Stay at the bar.

Genoa is Nevada's oldest settlement and played a key role in the California Gold Rush as a supply depot and Pony Express stop. The Courthouse Museum, run by local volunteers, is a great source for that early history.

Visited late morning and was in a small group who were enthralled by the history of the area and the role of the Morman pioneers in Genoa. We are staying in the area at David Whalley Resort and were advised that this is an excellent presentation. We can only endorse. Bout of the Wah but real history.

We had never heard of Genoa or this museum, but fortunately someone we were visiting in the area recommended it. This is a little gem. We learned so much of the local history here. We didn't realize how central the Genoa area was to the history of Nevada. The small park and visitors center across the street are well worth... More

This is an interesting small museum, in the old Courthouse in Genoa, NV. There are various sections that address different eras of the area and Courthouse. It's staffed with volunteer docents who are quite willing to answer questions and point out items of interest. I especially enjoyed the Washoe baskets and the display on Mr Ferris (of the Ferris Wheel).... More

Worth a visit. Did a really good job of preserving the original courtroom upstairs. Have a picnic across the street in the park that has a replica of the original fort.
