This is a beautiful lake, with sandy beaches and seagulls -so strangely out of place in rural Nebraska, and such a nice surprise! I only visited it briefly, but it is lovely in the off-season, when it is quiet and there are few people.

I went to see the eagles that winter here. Most have gone but there were still some left. I loved watching them fly around. The lake is gorgeous and I'm sure it would be a lot of fun to be here in the summer. Looks like good camping and lots of beaches.

Spent a little over a week here this summer. The water level was up which meant lots of places to go boating but the years of drought meant lots and lots of submerged trees. Many large branches had broken off and were floating submerged hazards. We never hit any with our boat but you had to be mindful of them.... More

It is amazing how big this lake is!!! Just stunning! My granddaughter was amazed. She said it looks almost like the ocean when we went to Texas.

last few times through here, lake has been very low. This year, the lake was high, lots of campers and hikers. What a great weekend!

But that's where it ends. It seemed cool that you can camp and drive right on the beach. Campgrounds that are more focused on tent camping have only a vault toilet, waaaaaay back on the road at least a 1/4 mile from the beach itself. So you can guess where most people went when the urge hit. The beaches have... More

We visited during Labor Day weekend. The lake is beautiful with wonderful, sandy beaches. However, there weren't enough toilets, and every bush/ tree/ patch of weeds had pieces of toilet paper surrounding it and in it. Someone had dug a pit on the playground and used it as a toilet (they left it open for the kids to enjoy in... More

The sand was much nicer than expected. Lots of bugs, remember to bring your bug spray! My boyfriend and I had an amazing time when we visited in 2013. It was one of the best vacations we had :) I will always enjoy remembering the beautiful sunsets and laid back feeling. There is a cute town close by, Ogallala. Surprisingly... More

It was a beautiful Saturday when my family and I visited the lake. I bought a water raft to hang out on the lake but the waves were too choppy so we laid on the beach and worked on our tan. There was plenty of parking and space on the beach to claim your area.

But we really enjoyed it. 5$ per car per day. Even when we entered at 4pm :-(. Their were bathrooms, but very smelly
