I stopped by this welcome center when I was visiting Yankton on New Year's Eve weekend but the center was closed due to the holiday. I chose to walk the short hiking trail around the center with my dog instead. It was a very pleasant walk/hike and is a fairly easy walk for most people. It even has numbered markers... More

Engaging for kids with hands on activities. Dress up as pioneers. Touch the pelts. Identify the tracks. This display tells the impact of the Missouri on the people and vice versa. Can also see how a fallout shelter was equipped - the zombie apocalypse of the 1950s and 1960s.

The Welcome Center which is manned by volunteers who know a lot about the area and the vendors that have their items for sale and local fair. It is fun and interesting. The people know the region and are more than free with suggestions of activities and things that will interest all people. I highly recommend a stop at the... More

Great rest stop and welcome center. It's not a state/federally funded welcome center so we made sure to donate. The lady was very helpful and friendly, clean bathrooms, and cool art work/crafts to look at or buy.

There is a great gift shop, clean restrooms, wi-fi, local snacks and really neat nature trail. It's a wonderful place to stop and take a break on your trip. Volunteer staff is always friendly and helpful! It's amazing that the Welcome Center stays open solely through donations and volunteer time! Be sure to stop and visit on your way north... More

Informative staff, good displays for information. Clean, large open room with a great view of the lake if it is too cold to view outdoors.

Want to know more about the Lewis and Clark Expedition? You've come to the right place. The center works hard to bring the history alive for adults and children alike. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. Looking for a souvenir? There's a little something for everyone at the bookstore. Walk the grounds and take in the spectacular view.
