On August 17, 1957 dad and mom took us fishing before seeing Yellowstone. Dad chose a spot below Hebgen Dam. I was about 15. We fished for 3 or 4 hours without catching any trout. Dad caught a few whitefish but not what he wanted....More

Stopped on our way in between campgrounds. Glad we stopped but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. There was a great visitors center and gift shop and I was able to do some Yellowstone souvenir shopping because I didn't want to...More

Worth a stop to read the signs and look. Just be glad you were not camping here in 1959. You'll shudder at the power of natural forces.

We spend about 1/2 hour here watching the free film and exploring the exhibit. A terrible occurrence and the history demonstrates the power of mother nature.

Definitely worth a stop! The visitor's center is a must. It really sets the stage. The trees in the water will haunt you, as they remind you that this was not always a lake . . .

This is a facinating place to stop and learn about the power of the earth. The visitor center has an informative video and the view of the quake area is exceptional. Highly recommend it

Route 287 between Ennis and West Yellowstone is quite magical. From the roaring Madison River, past Earthquake Lake, past Hebgen Lake and into West Yellowstone. All around the lake the history of the area and the 1959 quake is well signposted for visitors. Stop at...More

It is pet friendly, almost no grass for your pet and no shade at visitor center.
