It is so awesome to have a place so beautiful that is so close to town. Within 10 minutes from stores and restaurants you can be in the water or sitting by it enjoying the bald eagles flying by and the wonderful scenery.

We love this Lake. It's scenery is absolutely gorgeous. There are not too many places to stop and Beach but when you find them it's definitely a gem. You must go through the gates of the mountain when you visit.

Mountains, Lakes, Big Sky, Huge Sun! What more can a person ask for? This is a must top by and if the weather permits, bring a picnic and settle in for the afternoon. Lovely.

Nice place to set out for the day and check out the scenery along the Missouri River and the lake. Wildlife is abundant and is a nice place to take your camera and capture the beauty of Montana.

This has to be the prettiest lake this side of the Rockies. Great fishing and camping and the views are spectacular. There are two campgrounds that are usually pretty busy. Lewis and Clark traveled through here July 19, 1805.

Take the north road into Halter if going to the lake and the south road if just wanting to see the Missouri. Such a beautiful lake and setting. If you need restaurants or the ability to get into towns quickly it might not be for...More

We love the campground. It's well run and well maintained. We use the tent sites. The only thing I don't like is that we have to move our tent after 3 days so the grass doesn't die. We also have to leave for one night...More

Does the campground on Holter Lake fill up after Labor Day? I understand that they do not take reservations on the camp sites on Holter only on Big Sandy on Houser Lake. We would not want to tow a boat and drive a motor home for over 100 miles only to have the sites all taken. We were thinking maybe better to try mid Sept.?

You didn't say whether you were planning a weekend, Friday-Sunday. Ok, it slows down, but if you plan a weekend go real early. However, if it's full you can go down about 7 miles to Log Gulch it can be as nice. Having a boat... More
