The Ryan Island is a great place for weddings, receptions, family reunions and wedding anniversary parties. The island is very big and can accommodate a very large crowd of people. The scenery is very pretty and the waterfalls are great viewing. Lots of room for young children to play. Nice place for picnics and catered meals as well.

I wish BBQs were allowed but it is a gorgeous location. Our teen loves it as much as our younger children do. We've had picnics, games of catch, gatherings with friends, and I've taken senior photos out there. I highly recommend it!

This is a BEAUTIFUL PLACE! A wonderful island with incredible views. However, Beware of rattlesnakes (early in the Summer, baby rattlers WITHOUT rattles formed, as yet) and mosquitos that will carry you away. Bring a picnic lunch. Worth the visit, but keep your eyes open!!!

We drove to see all five great falls on the Missouri. Every single one is dammed up or underwater. So at most you see what trickles out of the spillways and hydroelectric plants over the rocks that were once great falls!

We really wanted to see the falls, but were worried after a few miles that we were not going the right way. We found it, though, and it was so worth it. The drive through the flatlands was actually nice. We saw antelope and a coyote, then rabbits and mule deer. It was cold and windy the day we went... More

One of the best picnic areas around Great Falls. It looks a bit barren on the drive but you drop down on the river below the dam. Great facilities and lots of tables. There is also an area for large groups. There is also a large eagles nest at the far end of the island. This year there were three... More

Came here for the first time this year and really enjoyed seeing what the "Great Falls" were like. I came here in the summer so there wasn't a lot of water on the falls but hear if you go in the spring time it's really neat to see. There is a great grassy area for picnics with tables that is... To get to the dam, you need to drive about 15 miles outside of the city through the prairie. Then you cross the river on a swaying pedestrian suspension bridge to get to an island with a fine view of the falls and dam, along with the sheer cliffs along the river. There are toilets at the parking lot and... More
