The town of Dillon is full of remarkable architecture attesting to its history as a rail and university town but without the contextual interpretation found in this museum a casual visitor may be left simply guessing at what is seen. Delightful displays enjoyed for a pittance and friendly conversation with the docent/cashier gave me us pleasurable overview of the area... More

Walking through the history of Dillon and Beaverhead County is an easy journey at the Beaverhead County Museum. Hard-working and friendly staff make that journey even better.

I was very impressed with the quality of the exhibits at this small town museum. The complex was sprawling with the main building holding the majority of the collection. The displays were put together well and wereinformative. The small amount of space in each room didn't permit a linear progression through the county's history, but it felt like you were... More

Dad and I visited to research family history. There is a separate room that the Beaver Head Hunters manage. Everyone was very helpful. The museum has a nice collection of local history, including a school house, wagon, 1 room house etc.

We stopped by before heading to Bannack, and it was an interesting place to visit. Lots of local and state history artifacts on display. We were not able to stay long enough to be thorough, but we enjoyed what we saw. General museum with schoolhouse and railroad station.

Because we knew very little about Dillon and Southwestern Montana we found this museum to be very informative and well-done. It is comprised of several buildings, including the old train depot, the old school house, and a one-room log house. The displays have hundreds of orginal artifacts and written personal stories of town founders. For avian enthusiasts be certain to... More

If your expecting the Museum of Natural History, you'll be disappointed, but if your looking for something about the local history this is a great place to go. The buildings have been well maintained, maybe not supper interesting for really small kids but would be fun for older children and adults.

Great place, the museum covers a lot of history of the area with a range of exhibits, many of which have been donated by local families. The ladies who staff the museum were so informative and it was a real pleasure to meet them and hear about their own family histories. We were advised to visit the boot store along the... More

Very inexpensive and eclectic. There is something for everyone but the Bird exhibit was outstanding.
