This is a small, quality museum. I especially enjoy the watercolor offerings each year. They have many high-level exhibits that would appeal to many different people.

The Springfield Art Museum is a city department that is open to the public free of charge and is located in Phelps Grove Park. The museum has rotating galleries, and a great kids zone. The museum is clean, comfortable and has an outstanding staff. It is a great place to spend a little time indoors and enjoy or learn about... More

The Art Museum frequently has traveling exhibits that are excellent. The Watercolor Exhibit is a regular and provides some great examples of local artists. There are several permanent exhibits as well. Don't expect to find works of the great masters here but for a nice afternoon it is well worth a visit.

Coming from St. Louis, this art museum is a step up from a country fair with the addition of some true pieces of clothing, flags and rugs from the 1800's--but that's about it if you're looking for anything historical. No offense to those who have submitted pieces in recent years, but there isn't much from revered artists from the past.

The museum could receive five stars in some respects, but it doesn't compare with museums such as the Gilcrease or Philbrook in Tulsa. It has an area where small kids can play and a small courtyard. Admission is free (although you should donate something if you can afford it). Some of the 19th century portraits were awe-inspiring. I haven't seen... More

We were able to see the annual Watercolor USA show which showcases great talent from around the country. Enjoyed it a lot and will try to make it back next year.

This is a nice-sized museum for a morning stroll, big enough to entertain but small enough to not be intimidating.

We were two days away from a music video shoot and rain was in the forecast. Ann Fortescue did not hesitate to offer the unparalleled setting of the museum. Even when the storm did not arrive - we chose to shoot a lot of footage in this exquisite space. Warm colors to individualize each room and set a theme for... More

Decent sized art museum with a variety of interesting exhibits. They recently had a theft of their Andy Warhol's soup cans, hope they get those back soon. There's also some are outside to look at.

We arrived with only 1-1/2 hr to spare, but it was plenty of time to enjoy the Watercolor USA and String Theory exhibitions. We even got a chance to see Anne Lindberg working on her current Tilted Sky exhibit. We plan to spend more time there on our next visit.
