Current River State Park is currently under development. Located along Current River, the property is the site of a former corporate retreat of the Alton Box Co. between the 1930s and the 1950s. The property includes the retreat's historic structures, other facilities and two lakes all in a rugged Ozark landscape setting. Additional information will be provided as it becomes available.

Stopped by this Park to see if we could fish but the road was so rough we were scared that we would damage our SUV.

This is the least welcoming State Park I've been to in MO and I've been to well over 60 of them (of the 88) at the time of this review. We visited Mother's Day weekend 2016 as we were camping at nearby Pulltite. We drove in and there was little to no signage on where to park or what to... More

The drive into park is a long one on a gravel road. As you approach the park, it is a beautiful entranceway with stone features & a peaceful lake view. As you pass by the lake, views of the Current River peek through the trees. The drive circles up to the lodge & several other buildings. A trail leads behind... More

Construction workers were working hard to finish up several new information kiosks and getting the park ready for general use by the end of August (their estimate). The park is open but the buildings are locked up. I was there on a weekday. There may be more activities on weekends. Worth a stop just to see the old, historic Alton... More

So this is our favorite park to visit. We prefer floating Akers to Poltite, we get a canoe at Poltite and have them bus is to the start. This year it was $48. Totally worth it. We caught the 12:00 shuttle, we were the last to start and had most of the river to ourselves all day.

Clear cool waters and great natural beauty make this a great place to visit. I come at least once a year to float and hike. I have never been let down by this park.

The cabin was ok, with a nice view of the river from the deck. Unfortunately the path down to the river was so steep that my companion, who has back problems, was unable to walk it. The cabin was $200/night with a $150 cleaning fee and an $85 pet fee for my small dog. We ended up having to leave... More

The grounds and location for the park are beautiful. This was our second trip. However most of the facilities that the State Park system inherited with the property are still in their run down state. It is a great place to go away from the crowd and sit and watch the river flow past. Maybe even do some fishing.
