This place is nearly brand new, having been saved from being turned into condos in the mid-eighties. David, our tour guide was very good, informative and laid-back. Our Thai exchange student pronounced him "easy to understand." He gives a short talk about the history of the place and then you are free to explore the first floor and basement of... More

If you love history (especially presidential history), you will love the Grant home. The tour of the house is fantastic. This is a place we always take history loving visitors. We haven't had a dud of a tour guide yet! The attached museum is interactive, full of information, and provides different points of view to Grant's presidency, which makes for... More

We were in town for an event but decided to check out a few sights in St Louis. This was interesting, well laid out for using a walker and the ranger was a delight. He was a history buff and so interesting. He made the grounds, history and Grant family members come alive. Knowing that this was Grant's wife's family... More

Glad we stopped here, though our guide was a little ho-hum. Neat history, the little museum definitely geared toward kids. Learned some interesting facts about Grant's wife's family and its always neat to see part of history. Sadly, the house is empty as the building with all Grant's furniture burned down taking all of the furniture and such with it.

Planty of parking at this interesting museum. The main building has an interesting but not too long movie, there are tours through the house and informative displays about the President in the exhibit building. I'd plan 1 1/2 -2 hours to see all of it. Nice gift shop. It's all very well done with friendly hosts.

Excellent fun for the kids. Have the scavenger hunt for the little ones and other more detailed workbooks for the older books they need to complete to win their badge. They had so much fun! The Park Rangers were great. So patient and answers all their questions. My kids are now asking us what other national parks we can visit.... More

I thought the kids would be bored to death while my husband and I listened to the tour, I was wrong. I am pretty sure the kids had a much better time than we did. They gave the kids some junior ranger books to fill out during the tour. They were age-appropriate. My older kids had different books than my... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our tour of the home and museum. We learned a lot about Grant as a person, a statesman and president.

My husband and I loved visiting the homestead and the museum that accompanies it. There was a multitude of information and we loved every bit of it. The house seemed so small compared to houses of today. I laughed at the largeness of furnishings on tiny rooms. We almost cried when we saw the tiny size of the slave quarters... More

Good solid museum, house tour is excellent. Generally have good speaker series that is free if you happen upon on of those, do attend. Some re-enactors and other historical figures present new views on Grant's time.
