The Compton Hill Reservoir Park is open the first Saturday of every month and one day a month during a full moon. It costs $5 for adults, $3 for kids and is free for children under 6 to scale the 198 steps to the top. There are windows at the top that give a great view of downtown St Louis,... More

The Compton Hill Water Tower is a truly unique destination in Saint Louis, as it is one of only seven surviving water towers in the United States with two others also located in Saint Louis. The tower It was built in 1898 and actually the youngest of the other three water towers located in Saint Louis and stands 179ft tall.... More

Lucky enough to climb to the top one evening this April. The tower was open for the full moon viewing. Stunning tower with lovely city views.

We climbed the 198 steps to the top! Yes 198 steps. But there are platforms that you can stop and take a break if you need to. The view at the top is amazing! You can see all of St Louis, including the Arch. Nice breeze up top too! We were lucky to be in the area on the first... More

I've seen this structure from the interstate and never went to check it out until this weekend. It is a well preserved very old water tower. Check to see when you can go inside for a tour.

The water tower costs $5 per person and is only open at certain times. Do a web search for times. The spiral stairs go up,150' or so, to a viewing area with windows all around. As you work your way up, there are many pictures and curious reading. This was on my bucket list and did not disappoint.

Located at the intersection of highway 44 and Grand Avenue in South St Louis, this park holds a reservoir and an historic water tower, one of only seven remaining in the United States. There are two other historic water towers located in St Louis, both several miles to the North on Grand Avenue. From the website: “The Compton Hill Water... More
