We went here yesterday to practice using my new camera. It was beautiful. The entrance to the cemetery is gorgeous. It was a little more confusing that Bellefontaine which is well laid out for the tourist. At any rate, we finally got a groove and drove around. You'll find Tennessee Williams here (close to the road for easy location) as... More

The cemetery appeared to be very well taken care of. We were pleased to see that as I have several family members buried there. The young man in the office was quite helpful. He looked up each name, printed out pages, and marked where family members were buried. He took the time to explain that my aunt along with a... More

As a historian, one of the things I always make sure I do is visit the local cemeteries when I travel. I had studied both Bellefontaine and Calvary months before I actually arrived. I know that there where famous people - remarkable people buried in both cemeteries. But I was more interested in the Jane Doe renamed "Precious Hope" story.... More

We've been here on a beautiful sunny fall day. We didn't bother to see the Gateway Arch, as I can well live without these things, but seeing the graves of Dred Scott and General Sherman, walking through this extremely beautiful park was the experience of a lifetime. I am really glad I did this!

If you are into art this is a wonderful place to see beauty in stone. Some of the monuments are breath taking. As you drive the winding paths notice the different styles of Catholic burial. Dred Scott is here, William Tecumseh Sherman, and others. When you finish, go across the street to Bellefontaine Cemetery and stop at the office and... More

If you stop by the front gate and have an electronic device, it is amazing who all is buried at Calvary. This historic cemetery has a who's who of famous St. Louisan's and Americans. You will be amazed at the hundreds of famous people there, including General Wm T. Sherman of Civil War fame.

I am an amatuer genealogist and this placce is a must see. It is one of the old style cemeteries and very well kept. There are some very interesting sections that reflect a culture such as the Italian section where each headstone has an embedded picture of who is buried there. Also, the monuments can be spectacular. Fianlly, the cemetery... More

Worth seeing. Surrounding neighborhood leaves much to be desired and I wouldn't recommend walking around there much but once inside the cemetary all is easy to forget. I could've spent the entire afternoon here. Make sure you get there early enough for a stop in at chapel and office. Check out Bellefountaine (sp?) Cemetery right just down the road.

Beautiful grounds, a bit of stl history and alot of serenity can be found here. The most lovely stream that flows through a gorgeous meditation garden.
