The Mother Church of the Archdiocese of Saint Louis, the superstructure of the Cathedral was built between 1907 and 1914. The Cathedral's 100th Anniversary is being celebrated in 2014.

It is known for its' beautiful interior mosaics, which took nearly 80 years to create using more than 41 million pieces of glass tesserae. The Cathedral is known for having one of the largest mosaic collections in the Western Hemisphere.

The single most beautiful place in the area. We are very lucky to have this Basilica in our city. Even if you aren't Catholic, you should visit just to see the mosaics and other art. If you are Catholic attending a Mass here should be on your bucket list.

You must visit this church - the mosaics are beautifully arranged throughout. It's a cultural gem. Both my children weren't very excited to go initially, but once we got inside, their eyes widened and they wanted to see everything. You could do this in under an hour if you chose to do it quickly and were pressed for time, just... More

Cathedral Basilica of Saint Louis is the most beautiful Basilica in the state if not the world. To see the mosicism works is out of this world. No other like it in the states.
