With the mission "to ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning", the Saint Louis Science Center is one of the top five science centers in the United States, and has been named one of the Top 10 Science Centers for Families by Parents Magazine and one of America's most visited museums by Forbes Traveler Magazine. The complex includes over 56,000 sq-ft of interactive science-technology exhibits that are part of the Science Center's free general admission. Opening in June 2016 is GROW, a one-acre outdoor exhibit that will take visitors on a journey of food, to gain a deeper understanding of our food supply. The Science Center's ticketed areas include the OMNIMAX, a four-story IMAX Dome theater; the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, one of the world's largest planetariums; and the Discovery Room, an activity area for families with younger children.

Fun times at the science center of St.Louis. My husband and I visited today and went to the Omnimax show on Extreme Weather and also went to the planetarium to see a show on the constellations. In between, we went around to look at different exhibits on the 4 floors. The admission is free, but it cost for the shows... More

Lots of stuff to see and do. Very interactive! Has a good array of exhibits and something for almost every interest. We spent a couple of hours there and could have spent a little more. The employee's in the Fossil lab were the absolute best! My son loves dinosaurs and because he was so fascinated they took some extra time... More

We took our teenage son and 2yo granddaughter here for an afternoon. Both had a nice time. Paying for parking and then having so many exhibits cost more, thats rough on families with a budget.

Chris W- We're pleased you had a good time. I do need to respond to your concern about cost. While it's true that we charge ($10) for all-day parking on our controlled lot at our main building, that parking fee helps pay the bills that allow us to have no general admission charge, making over 100,000 square feet of permanent... Like several other attractions in St. Louis the Science Center does not charge admission. There are a variety of science related activities for children of all ages. We enjoyed the new Mars Rover exhibit where you can program a Mars Rover and watch it move. Be sure to visit the outdoor "Food" exhibit, to see various aspects to farming and... More

JuneL- It was great to have you back, and we appreciate your second glowing review. As you noted in 2014, we're a place where even grown adults can be "amazed and definitely let ... creativity and energy come out!" ( https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g44881-d109206-r201240047-Saint_Louis_Science_Center-Saint_Louis_Missouri.html# ) As it appears from your current by-line that you might have moved to the St. Louis area, we... Not autism friendly... but it's not their fault so I did not dock a star for that. I asked about a sensory friendly day where the loud exhibits are shut off like the dinosaur and they were very receptive to that idea. So five stars for acknowledging it is not autism friendly and working to find a solution. However, they... More

Tishia C- Thank you for your visit and your constructive comments. Our kinetic exhibits and experiences do make for an active environment. We very much appreciate the suggestion for a pre-opening quiet time for visitors who might not want such sensory saturation. -John Wharton, Managing Director of Facility Operations More

This museum has improved over the years, and it's free. Use google maps to park in Forest park (half of the museum is there), where the free parking is. The museum has everything from an iMax to life-size dinosaurs to interactive architectural exhibits to Mercury Program space capsules to a Mars Rover you can drive by remote and more. You... More

This was an awesome place to visit. There was so much fun stuff to do. We didn't have much time to spend here but would have loved to be able to stay longer. I will be recommending this place to my family and friends. Keep up the great work. Thanks Jess Nelson from Bardstown Kentucky

We took our visiting grandchildren, 15 and 9 years old, just before Christmas. Both of them had a great time exploring exhibits, taking part in different experiments and viewing an Omnimax movie on our national parks. Admission is free but there is a charge for movies. It is a very engaging museum with enough offerings to keep adults entertained along... More
