With the mission "to ignite and sustain lifelong science and technology learning", the Saint Louis Science Center is one of the top five science centers in the United States, and has been named one of the Top 10 Science Centers for Families by Parents Magazine and one of America's most visited museums by Forbes Traveler Magazine. The complex includes over 56,000 sq-ft of interactive science-technology exhibits that are part of the Science Center's free general admission. Opening in June 2016 is GROW, a one-acre outdoor exhibit that will take visitors on a journey of food, to gain a deeper understanding of our food supply. The Science Center's ticketed areas include the OMNIMAX, a four-story IMAX Dome theater; the James S. McDonnell Planetarium, one of the world's largest planetariums; and the Discovery Room, an activity area for families with younger children.

I have been going to the St. Louis Science Center since I was a little kid. It was nice to see that they got some new exhibits, while keep some of the classics. Exhibits are more hands-on, which is great for kids. The best part of the trip was going to the Omnimax theater and seeing Extreme Weather! It was... More

The Science Center always seems to disappoint me. It is fun if you have little kids who are easily amused, but the interactive displays don't seem to hold their attention too long. The best part is definitely the live show where they do science tricks and kids get involved.

Kelseyfunk2- In an attempt to get a better handle on why you're lukewarm on us, I read your recent glowing posts on other St. Louis attractions. With a 600 foot pedestrian bridge over I-64 with glass floor panels and radar guns, we offer "neat views" like the Arch. With over 70% new exhibits in the past six years and a... More

Great science activities on every floor. I was bummed the King Tut exhibit wasn't until May. The lower level has a 'life size' T-Rex robot and fossils, geology related exhibits. The STEM exhibits were really neat. All in all a great experience. We didn't even see the whole place but my kids were spent after a couple of hours. Planetarium... More

Laewagne- We're really glad you found so much of interest. One note on something you apparently missed: "The Little Star That Could" in the Planetarium is a show specifically for younger children (it usually shows at least once a day). Indeed, going back 30 years, we were one of the first planetariums in the country to have a show for... More

Great activity for a rainy Sunday afternoon. Lots of activities for kids and it's FREE. We parked at the Planetarium and didn't pay for parking. We also watched a planetarium show. It was ok. Kind of corney and my kids thought it was odd. We expected a show and it was a guy trying to be funny and show you... More

The St Louis science center has lots to see and do. There is a dinosaur and fossil exhibit, life science, mathematics, garden and farming, and others. Much to do and see including a planetarium. Very affordable for the things that are there.

We stopped at the museum to check it out because for free we couldn't pass it up! It was clean and had a lot of things to do; our toddler wasn't extremely interested so we ended up leaving and going elsewhere. It didn't feel like a wasted day because of the price! Parking is not free and it is difficult... More

Amyjean0202- We appreciate your review and observations. While we strive to gear ourselves to a wide range of ages and interests, it appears you may have missed some of our activities geared to younger kiddos, particularly our Discovery Room activity area for families with children age 1-8 and Dino Dig area; perhaps on your next visit! Thanks also for the... More

While the Science Center has a lot of hands-on exhibits, our family just thought it was a little flat. The Cinemax was good. Would I recommend going -- yes, if it's your first visit. Maybe we missed something because lots of people recommended it to us.

The kids had a lot of fun (9 year old and 5 year old boys) A learning experience, exercise, and fun. They even have live shows. All free!! But parking is $10. We will go back.

And please don't be put off by a an all-day charge for controlled parking; considering how much we offer to do, and most of it free, the parking is a good deal (and helps us defray costs). This is a great hands on science museum. There are tons of hands on exhibits and very involved staff. I would definitely recommend for school age children and their families.

So much fun! Best part is that it was free!! We rode both the sky rides. The blue one was ok. The white one was fun! It was a video game and you could go upside down! The science part was very interesting. Learned a lot of new things. Parking cost $10.
