The new Civil War Museum does an excellent job of explaining Jefferson Barracks. There are also other museums on the grounds that are good, but I'd go to the Civil War Museum to get an overview of the Jefferson Barracks Historic Park.

My father, several cousins and a brother are buried in the cemetery there. The grounds are immaculate. The museum is small, but w/c accessible.

Missouri was torn by the Civil War at the same time its citizens were divided among themselves. The Museum at Jefferson Barracks tries to describe the division without taking sides. The history of this Army base/fort prior and after the Civil War is amazing!
