Beautiful warm water. We went on a rainy day so the waves were pretty rough and not able to swim. No shells or sea glass. We found the upper part of the beach to he pretty littered with garbage and cigarette butts. May have been better on a sunny day.

A very long beach. Lots of free parking and nearby bathrooms. Cool rocks with no fossils. Not crowded and a really nice place to visit.

Lots of parking, free admission! There were lots of rocks on this beach so don't expect to enjoy walking this beach without sneakers on. The water was fairly warm in August when we were there. The waves were big and fun to watch. It wasn't too hard to get to but is off the beaten path and can be easy to get lost if not from around there. I didn't notice many bugs here at all. I would recommend and definitely would return if possible!

We went to Melmerby and googled beforehand to make sure dogs were welcome. They were... except when we got there and took our Pomeranian pup to the water to cool off we were told dogs aren’t allowed in the water! And I watched the life guards tell 3 other dog families they were not allowed either. What the heck? This isn’t written anywhere and it’s ridiculous. There’s 2kms of beach and I can’t take my puppy in the water to cool off on a hot day???

Reconnect with nature at Melmerby Beach Provincial Park. Learn about the famous ship wreck - after which the beach was named, where only one crew member survived. Gentle sloping sandy beach, this is one of Nova Scotia's best kept secrets.
