Play in the shallows of the East Fork of the Black River. Shoot through Mother Nature’s hydraulics in the shut-ins. Hike a trail that will show you 1.4 billion years of geologic history. Take your horse on a pretty mountain trail. Johnson’s Shut-Ins State Park is a jewel of the system, a place with something for everyone: pretty picnic areas, Ozark landscapes, natural places to swim, great campsites.

First I'll say that we visited on a Sunday, and one of the hottest of the year, so there's that. The shut-ins area was super-crowded, and parking was full. We were dressed to swim, but then had to walk nearly 2 miles to get to...More

This is a unique water experience in which you climb on rocks to get to pools of water and a few areas of rushing water. Water shoes with a good grip are essential. There are some mossy rocks and the bottom is covered with rocks,...More

We stayed in a premium campsite in our travel trailer and the campground is amazing. We have Sprint so we had no service at all but the office does have free wifi. We visited the Shut-Ins and it was awesome. Unfortunately we saw so many...More

It was a good experience but make sure you are equipped to handle the horse flies :). Besides that it's a nice place to spend time, walk, enjoy the water and have a nice view.

Johnson Shut-Ins is a great place to spend the day or even go camping for a few nights. If you swim and explore you may find yourself with a few bumps of bruises from my experience, but in the end it's all very fun! Make...More

One of the most beautiful places in Missouri. Visit the visitor center to learn about the dam break that destroyed the park and the amazing work to rebuild it.

We arrived during storms, and the water was very high. The access to the water was closed (good thing). Beautiful walking path to overlook of the white water. Boys enjoyed driving the van thru the low water crossings (we made it!). Will definitely return this...More

This time we hiked down the Goggins trail, well a couple hours of it. Though it is also an equestrian trail we saw no horses, or really anyone. The dog had a great time.

Great place to people watch and sit in the water and stay nice and cool on a hot day. We just sat in the water all day and kept nice and cool. Very clear water.
