Knob Noster State Park is a tranquil idyllic oasis mixture of prairie, open woodland and forest along both sides of a meandering creek. It’s a place for fishermen to wet a line, for mountain bikers, hikers and horseback riders to get some trail time, and for families to spend quality time together. It’s also a place for aviation enthusiasts to stay in the campground and watch the B-2 Spirit bombers take off and land at nearby Whiteman Air Force Base.

We visited here on a week day in March and we were not charged an entrance fee (not sure if there is one). We stopped at the visitors center (closed) and got a trail map. We parked and took the trail around the lake. It was a great trail but very muddy as it had rained hard the day before.... More

We went through the week so no need for reservations. Only a few campers in the park. Right next to Whitman AFB. Lots of shaded spots and the host were very nice. I don't think it gets real busy even on the weekends. Warrensburg, Mo. is the closest bigger town about 10 miles away. The golf course at Whitman is... More

The hiking is okay - its the history of this place that is really the attraction. The visitors center tells the story of how the area was used by soldiers during the Civil War. Worth the trip for history buffs.

Boy Scout campout. This is a great campground at a State Park. Very quiet and lots of trails and lakes to hike and visit. Views are nice and the staff is great.

This place is nice, Camp Host is great. We finally got to have a fire because he blew big radius around the firepits. Upper Midwest is dry and fire prone this year. Again super camp host!

We spent several nights here recently in our motorhome and had an excellent experience. Check-in was efficient, and the park was well-maintained and lovely. Sites didn't have quite as much privacy as we'd hoped due to lack of low vegetation, but were far enough apart that we have no complaints. Nice bike riding in the park. Hiking is good but... More

We had a great time hiking. I wish the colors for the trails would have been better. We thought we were on a brown trail but we were on a red one. But we still had fun.
