The museum is well laid out, with fascinating exhibits and lots of great information. It is amazing that this steamboat wreck would be found in a farm field! the story of how it was found and excavated is a great adventure.

This is one place that really shocked me. I had no idea how cool this would truly be. It is a great place to visit. So much history I didn't know! And it is a great place to take people visiting from out of town!!

Many years ago the steamboat carrying a heavy load of supplies (i.e., plates, flatware and so much more) got caught in a storm on the Mississippi and tipped over. It laid on the bottom of the river for many decades only to be discovered by a Kansas City man and now on display in the museum. Only portions of the... More

I had the great pleasure to tour the Arabia Museum last week with my family. I'm really not sure how I have lived in the area and missed this little gem for a number of years. From the guide to the exhibits, it was such a wealth of information, and captured our attention (even the 10 yr old) the entire... More

The museum tells the fascinating story of the steamboat and its treasures that were lost under the waters of the Missouri river and recovered by the dedication of a local family. The goods that were being transported have been preserved in tact and in fine condition and are all on display. A unique local attraction.

Interesting hour and half tour. Good displays and neat story of one individual's passion to dig up the sunken steamboat. Story of perseverance and determination to have all the ships content cleaned and put on public display.

Surprising treasure! The story of how the steamboat was recovered is fascinating, and it's hard to believe all the cargo it carried. Really, who packs pickles? Very glad we saw this glimpse of history

This was a great place to visit. The history behind how this museum came to be is truly fascinating. We had a few history buffs in our group and this place did not disappoint. It is also located near the River Market so it was a perfect location to explore for both artifacts and yummy restaurants!

What a fascinating opportunity to understand a little bit of the experience of traveling the Missouri river during the days when boats sank, cargo and all. Our guide was very knowledge about the sinking of the Arabia and we saw so many of the artifacts that were recovered by the hard working men who had the vision to find the... More

We chose this museum because it was a Monday and all the other museums were closed. This was really interesting and we learned a lot about the area in the pre-civil war era. The collection of 'goods' is amazing. All together it took us about an hour and we meandered a bit. Definitely recommend this if you love anything having... More
