At least on this day, the Mansion was not open to the public. You can get a good look at the outside from two sides and look up from a garden at a third. The Mansion is a short walk from the capitol.

Absolutely love this tour and building. Such amazing history. The tour seemed a little rushed and didn't cover everything (there were some people around us talking about everything they had learned about last time they came and it definitely wasn't covered during our tour). But...More

I took some out of country family to tour the Mansion. The tour was okay, nothing to write home about. Only allowed on the main floor, It is historic but nothing of real interest on the first floor

There are tours by a docent inside of the building. It's decorated for holidays always. The grounds are beautiful and used for weddings, and photos of kids in prom dresses and more.

**Reservations made well in advance. And still they added people to our party. Why would you do that....already a group of 18, with different interest than others possibly. Ask to see the DAR room....no. They have a 2x2 picture in the book, "If these walls...More

The mansion is licated very close to the State Capitol building. Looked immaculate as do the gardens that surround it. Would have liked to see inside, but time didn't permit because we had a tight schedule and you need to book a time to look...More

I noticed that one reviewer warned that you have to have reservations, which was true several years ago....but small groups are able to "just walk in" at this time.
