Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Saida's old souk is exactly what you might imagine an Arabian bazaar to look like, complete with stone archways and shops selling everything from fruits to souvenirs. Along with the Debbane Palace, many old religious sites are scattered throughout the souk in the labyrinth of twisting alleyways.

This is the original Souq still used by locals, with lots of paved lanes of stores with merchants houses in various states of repair above them. Unfortunately I visited on a Friday when the Souq is closed all day, but I can imagine the bustle and experience of a normal
Market day. Worth a visit ..but not on Fridays!.

Loved the fact that this is not a tourist souk but patronised more by localswhich gives you a real local flavour to the souk. Very busy but definitely worth a visit.

It is a very nice, traditional Arabic souk. You can find a little bit of everything, clothes, souvenirs, local products, food, etc. For us it was the first souk we visited in Lebanon but not the last. It is a great labyrinth where you can get lost and found many times.

Although not as atmospheric as some older towns in the Arab world, the souks of Sidon are certainly interesting and photogenic. All sorts of sundry items are for sale. It makes for a great wander.

We visited two Souks in Lebanon and this one was by far the best. Well worth a visit because it remains so authentic. A busy Souk used by locals to do their shopping.Very few tourists. Little labyrinthine streets full of old artisan type shops, e.g. shoe making shops and chairs but there is also lots of typical food. It is worth tasting their specialities here. People are quite sensitive to have their photo taken, so respect those who do not wish to have photos taken. Very relaxing little places where you can have a drink and watch the locals play backgammon.

Yes it is close on Friday afternoon and everyone will tell you that is open!!!
Anyway we saw it just passing by before the Friday prayer but as we were planning to do other things we couldn’t stop and of course it was closed later. Anyway for what we saw the Souks is really full of colours and smells and wares and what I found really nice is the little roads inside the souks very very interesting!

I've been to many Souks across the middle east and it was a joy to find that the Souk in Sidon remains almost entirely used for locals rather than full of "tourist tat" (there is a small bit of it about if you want some but not too much!)

Finally electric scooters/mopeds are allowed in so watch your back and listen out for "beep beeps!"
