This monestery is located inot in the center of Vologda but it takes only 10-12 minutes ride by taxy (about 3$ one way) or 20 minutes by bus (0.4$). The monestery mostly is open to public for free. It is quite compact and fully represents tipical mideaval Russian architecture. Monastery has several cherches and cathedral but only one is open... More

Speaking honestly, there are not so many places to visit in Vologda. The monastery was our final spot before leaving the town - and I would definitely advise you not to miss it! We had an interpreter for our tour here. One of the monks (he spoke no English) took us around and he was very sweet. For women; if you don't have a dress on, you will be asked to wear a black apron-like 'skirt' placed at the entrance in a basket. It was cold when we were there, so we already... More

Visited this monastery as part of a cycling tour provided by the tourist information centre in Vologda. The ride is not too difficult to get out there and the monastery is located near a river.
