Great architecture in this courthouse! Be sure and go inside. There is a wonderful mural by Lowell Davis as well as a working steel cage elevator,artifacts from the area and more.

The Jasper County courthouse, built in 1898 is a beautiful piece of architecture. The grounds are beautiful but don't miss going inside. The first floor is basically a museum. Tells a lot of history about Route 66 and also Carthage's role in the Civil War

Just drove by this beautiful courthouse in Carthage, Missouri. All should see it. This is a lovely town with many beautiful trees.

We were passing through on our way to Texas and stopped to see this beautiful courthouse .. the architecture was unbelievable... worth the stop!

It appears that this building was one of the inspirations for the building featured in the Back to The Future movie series. The architectural history is fascinating and the building features many fascinating displays. Well worth a visit.

You actually won't need a map as you can see the top of the Court House with its huge star from most places in town! If you come into town on Route 66 then you will need to turn South onto Main Street and go 2-3 blocks. Our... More
