Nice stop. Friendly staff willing to be very helpful and explain the area. Did not take the tour of the museum, since not into blues.

Great visitor center with all the expected info, maps, amenities, etc. But the museum is what I came to see. It far exceeded expectations with its explanation of how blues music came about and was distilled into what we hear today. Amazing guitars from BB...More

I can't believe I'm writing a review of a visitor's center. But for those heading down the Blues Trail (or not), this is great building (restored train depot I believe), staffed by great people (got a great heartburn tip from my excess bourbon and bbq...More

+JMJ+ Traveled down from Memphis and needed to get my bearings. Nothing like a paper map to set the world straight, and they had it and many more brochures, etc to explain why you'd venture down to this remote, cotton field, part of Mississippi. Now...More

The exhibits are really neat at this museum we just happened upon. Play the diddley bow, it was really cool to do! We did think it was a bit pricey to get in for the size of the museum, though.

We have been here twice and it just keeps getting better. A must see! SUPER friendly staff. Both the museum and gift shop are wonderful!

Gateway to the Blues is an unexpected surprise. It is old and shabby on the outside but filled with Blues information on the inside. There is a museum and interactive activities. There is also a small gift shop. It should not be missed.

Very simply, start any tour here. The museum has interactive exhibits, as well as the usual guitars and other memorabilia that others offer The big difference is that this museum explains the the significance. Nowhere else will you find the one stringed diddly bow with...More

Nice museum, lots of interactive stuff to see and do, lots of artifacts left there by musicians and even the option to record your own blues song. Good place for blues lovers and also a good place to learn a lot more about it.

There are many blues museums in Mississippi but this is one of the better ones. It's a convenient pit stop when you drive from Memphis south to Clarksdale and although I am a repeat visitor, I find it reinvigorates my interest in the region and...More
