Very comprehensive and sensitive depiction of Mississippi's history that combined colonial paintings and modern art into a coherent narrative of the state's past. Acknowledgment of Native American and African American experience is impressive.

We enjoyed the exhibit dedicated to the bi-centennial of the state as well as the King Cotton / Thomas Sayre exhibits. They were well organized in a thematic way with different styles represented, including the topic of slavery, even if painters did not represent it...More

We really enjoyed the Picturing Mississippi art gallery. It was beautiful in every way. It was so well placed, every piece. I would love to keep going back each time the gallery is changed. It is always a pleasure.

This museum is so underutilized because the public does not realize what a jewel this community has in its mists. There are always top notch exhibits

My 8 and 6 year old really enjoyed the museum, they didn't want to leave. I would recommend planning for 5 to 6 hours stay. Once you leave, you can enjoy the wonderful park across the street and even visit the Natural Science Museum.

The main exhibit, The Mississippi Story or something, is terrific and free. This state is better renowned for its music and literature -- check out the visual art!
