We drive US 61 pretty often. It is normally a well maintained road. We often take it from Wabasha to the Twin Cities. Wabasha to Red Wing is a two lane portion of the road. The gas station in Frontenac is closed. We also drive...More

(Bob Dylan) 61 is a great drive. Take your time, stop often, and enjoy the scene. The drive from Lake City south is beautiful in any season.

We were staying in Winona and took a drive on Highway 61. It is impressive for the views. We were there for the spectacular fall colors and the whole route that we drove was beautiful, as it does go along the river and the bluffs.

Highway 61 from Redwing, MN to Prairie Du Chien, WI. Is amazing. Drive both of the MN and WI sides if you get a chance - for the amazing river views and small towns, including La Crescent, MN; Alma, WI; and Prairie Du Chien, WI....More

Maybe due to Grandma's Marathon or something.....this route got old and dated. It was greatly UPDATED in past few years. Don't miss this route!

It gives away my age when I say that my first introduction to Highway 61 as anything but a line on a map was Bob Dylan's great album "Highway 61 Revisited"... released in 1965 and a soundtrack for much of my high school career. Dylan...More
