Awesome scenery

Very good place with scenery. Beautiful sea can be sighted from above the mountain. Place to capture instagrammable pictures.

So glad we did it
Feb 2020
What a day this was for us. We had seen them do it on Topgear, on there mopeds. We were in a nice tour car, with our guide. We stopped for Oysters with peanuts, before the long climb. We stopped a few times to take photos, as there are many places you can pull over. It is so high you are in cloud whe you are at your highest point.

Beautiful drive
Mar 2020 • Solo
No idea why the locals I spoke to were kind of scared of this pass. My home country has mountins and I've driven way harder than this one. Anyway, if you are staying in Da Nang, I'd say it is a must see place. Take a motorcycle, drive on that long boulevard next to the beach and soon you will enter the first turns. Some great views will come over, with many fellow bikers to stop and take photos. The very top of it is quite touristic place, but coffee is still good and prices are reasonable.

It's not a must see
Mar 2020
It's a nice road to take, but it's not sensational. If you have time to spare and money it's ok to visit.
The road is nice but there are only a few spots where you can see the views you see in all the pictures on the internet.

Great view but if you are passionate about war history
Feb 2020 • Couples
It is certainly a great view, highest point in the area. Having travelled a lot and having seen many spectacular views, for me it is nothing special unless you are passionate about the vietnam war and what meant those places

Fantastic views but be warned - at the lookout point, the stall holder owning the toilet will try to scam you
Feb 2020 • Couples
Amazing views on the drive around the hai van pass and spectacular views from the designated look out point by the brick tower but, be very careful here. Our guide told us to buy something from the woman who owns the toilet if you use her facilities. I bought a snack for 30000 Vietnam dong. As I was looking for cash in my wallet, she grabbed a 500000 dong note and said that was 50000 then gave me change for 50000. She did the same thing to someone else in our group. She is a very bad person so avoid her toilet and use the one further down the road.

Wow...
Feb 2019
When it comes to train travel I believe I've done my far share: Trans Mongolian, Tibet, around Europe etc...seen some sights as far as train travel goes. As for the Hai Van Pass this is one of those 'look out of the carriage window' in awe moment. What better way to arrive in Danang after a night on a sleeper train this this sight...

On our way from Hue to Hoi An, the tour group I was with made a rest stop here. Great views, including that of beaches and the city of Da Nang. It was a bit cold and windy here, so a hot cup of Vietnamese coffee hit the spot.

Beautiful

A beautiful drive from Hoi An to Hue, with a stop for photo opportunities. Breathtaking at parts, not only because of the scenery!

Amazing, beautiful scenery!

The views along this road are amazing. If you're fortunate enough to ride a motorbike along here then I envy you...although, if you're planning on doing this, be aware the Vietnamese have no qualms about overtaking on blind corners, so be careful of oncoming traffic. And if you're a passenger in a car (& you don't suffer from motion sickness...), look around at everything. A great road to drive, plus stop wherever you can & take in the views.
