Great hiking and fall colors

Had a wonderful experience hiking at this park in the fall. There are a lot of colorful maples. The view by the Kettle river is stunning and view of the falls is very calming.

Great place to see fall colors... beautiful state park. It is also close th the Jay Cooke State Park and the St. Croix State park. All within a reasonable driving distance, making it a full day activity.

We've visited this park 2 or 3 times before, but this time we did the hiking club trail and were wowed. We new that the Kettle River ran through the park and had seen it from above before but we didn't know about the history of the park or how impressive the Kettle River is from it's banks. It was... This is one of my favorite state parks with some great hiking trails and the river is beautiful. Great place to get away from the Twin Cities without driving hours.

This was our first time to Banning State Park, we spent 2 nights in the campground with our pop up camper. The campground is clean, bathrooms were decent and clean. The campsites are private with lots of trees separating each site, definitely the north woods feel. We love hiking and were not disappointed with the trails although some of the... More

Not at the top of my list of favorite Minnesota state parks, but still a very pleasant and relaxing place. Nice trails along the river.

Banning State Park is a beautiful hidden jewel. I love the hiking trails in this park, but I also ventured off trail to some awesome finds. This park is a former sandstone quarry and is rich in history and charm. The river, rocks, trees and waterfall are breath taking. The park is quiet with plenty of places to sit and... More

Visited Banning State Park to take in the fall colors as it's a big maple tree area and the colors are a bright gold in fall. The scenery didn't disappoint but a lot of others had the same goal and I was lucky to grab a spot in one of the lower parking lots after registering at the front park... More

While it seems like Minnesota state parks should have a Great Lake or the Mississippi, this park will not disappoint! The Kettle River has rapids that are both beautiful and attract kayakers. There are hikes high up along the bluffs or low along the river. The river is bound by low cliffs, some deeply undercut by centuries of water while... More
