My wife and I loved our tour of Summit Avenue led by an excellent guide from the Minnesota Historical Society. The houses are gorgeous and there is so much history. Any visit to St. Paul would not be complete without a visit to Summit Avenue.

I love to see the history of the city and taking the drive on Summit Avenue was surely beautiful. There are many magnificent homes on this drive, reminiscent of downtown Denver with it's large stone mansions.

The massive stone mansion of empire builder James J. Hill is here and operated by the Minnesota Historical Society. There's a fee to go inside, but you can walk the grounds and take pictures of the exterior for free. F. Scott Fitzgerald lovers can find...More

Stunning architecture. University Club. Fitzgerald home at 599 (and birthplace nearby on Laurel). Social groups were playing old fashioned croquet, dressed in white period costumes on this June Sunday to make it even more special. Hill home worth a visit too ($10 tour fee there)....More
