On a sort of whim, my wife and I booked tickets for a one-hour Thursday concert while staying in a nearby hotel. The concert featured one piece, “The Rite of Spring,” prefaced with an account of the work’s technique and history. It was all quite wonderful. I hadn’t seen Orchestra Hall in years, and the remodeling was stunning. It has... More

We received tickets to the MN orchestra. At first, we were not to thrilled, but they were a gift so we went. I am so glad we did! Orchestra Hall is an amazing place. Accoustically speaking, it is perfect. Our seats were near the back, and yet the softest sounds were like they were only a few feet away. Not... More

The Grammy winning Minnesota Orchestra is one of the true gems of the Twin Cities. The director, Osmo Vänskä, has made a really excellent ensemble into a world class orchestra. He brings out aspects of the music that other conductors simply miss, and he has brought the use of dynamics to a whole new level. Whenever the orchestra tours internationally,... More

We really enjoyed our time at the Minnesota Orchestra. It is a beautiful venue. Go early sometimes they have local beer brewers and you can sample their beers. Also take advantage of the happy hour prices.

Saw 'Russian Nights' performance on Friday, February 17th. The venue is well worth seeing and, on this particular evening, the show was a great value. Encore piano performance of Rachmaninoff by Behzod Abduraimov. He is truly talented.

Went to see Vocal Essence Underground Railroad and it was wonderful. The first half was a tad slow for me but the second half was amazing. I used to sign spirituals in Jr. High and some of this brought me back home. The hall was full of so much positive energy and love it was amazing. Loved it.

We were rudely seated late. I'm not saying it's a good thing to be late, but a couple of the ushers along the way (from the Main Door, to get our program, to Door G) were basically like, "What are you doing? Where are your tickets? You need to wait for the applause to go in." Meanwhile, several other latecomers... More

The hall alone is worth seeing with its triple balcony and freestanding stairways to get to them. Acoustics are good but likely better if not in the back of the third balcony. It was also dark there so that I could not read the program.
