We visited here on a very warm July afternoon. Finding where to go in was a little frustrating and we found ourselves lost and walking in the sun and heat over a bridge and then back again. Signage could have been better. The exhibit itself is informative and shows the history of the use of the Mississippi in the area.... More

This is such a cool place, we walked along the river and into the neighborhood and just had a really good time enjoying the weather and the river. I would recommend this to anyone that wants to do something relaxing and different.

From Nicollet Mall walk down to First Bridge by the river & follow the path through Riverside Walk & Mills Ruins Park, passing St Anthony's Falls. It's quite impressive.

This is a nice place. One can see it from the riverside parks as well as the bridge spanning the river. I like the posted information to learn more about this river history and the mills.

Did the walking circuit starting at Stone Arch Bridge then left along the riverbank and into the Xcel Energy Water Power Park, across Hennepin Avenue Bridge then back to the start along W River Parkway. Took over an hour, weather was hot but there are benches and cafes on the way to stop.

Great vista from the top floor. The National Parks Service has recently taken over from the Army Corps of Engineers as the locks have now been closed. They are in state of change. We had to walk upstairs as the elevator wasn't working and the temp was in the 90s with humidity. However, it was worth the walk. There is... More

This is one of my favorite places to see in Minneapolis. This is where the city was born. The lock is now out of service to control invasive fish but the old station remains open. Great for wedding photos as well.

The walk around St. Anthony Falls is worth the hour or two you might want to spend. On the Minneapolis side, the city has exposed some of the old flour mill races and developed the area into a nice walkway/parkway. There are also tours of the locks boats use to get around the falls, and many interesting interpretive displays along... More
