We leave within a few minutes walking distance from Lake Calhoun and Lake Harriet, we have a sail boat on lake Harriet, and we are at all of these lakes frequently throughout the week. We love it so much, we decided to buy here. We...More

We rented a canoe from Wheel Fun Rentals - $25/half day, which it plenty of time to hit all lakes if you are not circumnavigating them. Beware, restrooms are far and few between - plan accordingly. The only lake with restrooms & eatery is Lake...More

The Chain of Lakes just outside of downtown Minneapolis are the best part about the city. Enjoy all sorts of water sports (canoe, kayak, paddle board) or have a bite and a beer at one of the lake side eateries.

Those who live in Minneapolis sometimes don't appreciate what amazes any visitor - the full experience of the chain of lakes. Not only each lake and it's paths and restaurants and seasonal activities, but also the different neighborhoods, the Minnehaha connection, the neighborhoods ranging from...More

Running, biking, walking or just people watching, the "Lakes" of Minneapolis are a true gem. You can even get dinner and a beer before catching a concert at Lake Harriet.

The most northern lake is Lake of the Isles. Lake of the Isles is surrounded by some of Minneapolis' nicest homes. It is a quiet lake that's perfect for walking or bike riding. There are many sunny spots to get a tan and there's an...More

We've rented canoes many times at Lake Calhoun and then gone through the various channels exploring the sites. The water quality has improved over the years and the ducks and geese are always looking for a handout. There are some very cool secluded sites, a...More

Love the Lakes. You can eat, sun, rent a sailboat or canoe...or just walk the trail and enjoy the day. If you are in the Cities give it a try.

We rented bikes close to our hotel and spent a fabulous day biking around the lakes and the city. Trails are primarily bikes -only as walkers have their own trails. The terrain is flat and the views are spectacular. Biking around the lakes was a...More

Oh yes, in the summer, anywhere that has a patio allows dogs, and will offer water for them, lots of people run and bike with their dogs, there's a dog park over by Cedar Lake too - it's not big, but lots of shade.
