We earn our title easily with an array of beautiful lakes linked together just a couple of miles away from downtown. Walking paths, sailing, canoeing, family picnics, dog parks - this place has everything. Great restaurants ring the lake. Rent bicycles, rollerblades and have a great day.

The chain of lakes (Harriet, Calhoun, Lake of the Isles, and Cedar Lake) more than anything else is what makes Minneapolis a cool place to live or visit. Fortunately, the cities leaders and philanthropists long ago decided that access to this wonderful chain of lakes must remain public. No one can build houses on the lakes or own the lake... More

The chain of lakes in one of the most beautiful parts in the city. Rich in culture and near uptown. Fantastic restaurants, bars ( Live Music) and shops and if you visit in August you may have the pleasure of attending the uptown art fair. You can walk for miles or rent a bike. The bus run through this area... More

Minneapolis has hundreds of miles of bike paths - this view is only one. You can bike from Minneapolis all the way to Wisconsin!

The trip across the lakes is lovely and the view is unique, there are islands that are not viewable any other way. Its a beautiful way to enjoy the lakes!

I have long ran around them for years. Yesterday, I ran around Lake of Isles for the first time in a long time and it was really nice. The nice thing about the chain of lakes is how they are all connected by a bi-trail, one for bikes and bladers and a parallel one for slower walkers. On busy weekends,... More

Beautiful lakes you can tour around by car, foot, or bicycle. They are connected for an in-town experience for the nature lover.

If you want to get a feel for Minneapolis and the people of the city, just take a walk around any of the three lakes, Calhoun, Harriet or Lake of the Isles. You won't be alone. A steady stream of walkers will pass and meet you. Calhoun and Harriet are about a 3 mile walk, and Lake of the Isles... More

not only can you see the beauty of the downtown skyline from most south/southwest locations on each lake, they each have their own unique beauty and advantages. From a bit quieter and scenic on Lake of the Isles to the hustle of Lake Calhoun to the community around Lake Harriet you will find what your looking for at one or... More

Great way to get close to nature while still in the city. I like to bring a bag to pick up trash I find along the way...
