We could clearly see 5 water towers in the distance. Just one mile out of town going west, turn left on gravel road. You will see a small sign. Panoramic view. The pits are huge. There are markers with a short history and description of what you are looking at. Definitely worth the small detour.

Amazing view of the mines and good golly the view goes on for days. Heading out of town it's a mile on the left and a gravel drive that loops to give you the view of a lifetime.

My kids and I like to go up there and watch the mining, but that has stopped. It's now a sad place where there's just silence.

We drove to the overlook after visiting the worlds largest hockey stick and lunch. Nice views. Too bad they don't have overlooks in mines where they are working. Most of the mines are full of water when they are not active.

A short drive off the highway on a dirt road and you arrive at a 180 degree views of the Mining Activities in the entire valley. Take a few moments and you can point out at recognize several landmarks in the distance of water towers of the surrounding communtieis. This would be an excellent vantage point to view the turning... We stopped in an a beautiful spring day. There is a sign at the top, but not much else to see except for the great views. Visit if you are passing by, but there are better views in Virginia and Hibbing if you want to make a special trip, visit one of those two.

Going to the Overlook was a peak in my trip, I absolutely loved it. Anyone traveling through the area should go enjoy it themselves.

Nice view. Very worthwhile to check this place out. And it is free, so that is a bonus. Very worthwhile to check this place out. And it is free, so that is a bonus.
