This museum was surprisingly interesting and larger than it seemed. It has fun exhibits about shipping, geology, and Great Lakes history. The information is good for kids and adults.

If you are in Duluth for Lake Superior you must stop here. I have come here since I was a kid & went with my 12 yr old & enjoyed it like when I was a kid. Learn so much about the lake & shipping.

This is not a large museum but filled with facts and exhibits about the shipping on the great lakes. It is free so the price is right. A welcome quiet retreat from the tourist area it is in.

Great visitors center with a combination museum. The exhibits had great information on the history of the canal, bridge, area, etc. It was well worth the visit and they had a very nice gift shop. I would start your Canal Place visit here first.

This place presents is a quality depiction of history, without flashing lights and screens and the wow factor. The events reviewed and depicted are WOW enough. It's simply-presented information and lots of photos of the old ships, especially the Edmund Fitzgerald. You really get the...More

We stopped in to get some information about local attractions. The woman working was beyond helpful. Gave great suggestions and showed us prices, helped plan out our next day in the area. The museum was also interesting. Could have spent much more time there.

We had a great time. Did the lighthouse, took the iconic pics by it, then hit the ship museum. Kids were actually interested in the shipwreck. Glad we did it.

This visitor center is worth taking in. It will give the schedule of any ships arriving and gives some great history. Stop here before walking out to the lighthouse or walking over the bridge.

I do not know. But, I do know that both Duluth, and the Museum are great to visit any time of year, whether any ships are coming in, or not. I was very surprised at how much I liked this city, and I was equally pleased... More
