This was 1/4 mile form our hotel and was a welcome oasis in the mall/airport area. The trails were well maintained and easy enough for almost anyone. The nature center was fun and informative and had some wonderful displays.

This was a beautiful escape from the urban environment. It is located close to the Mall of America. The paths were well marked and maintained. If you like the outdoors then you will really enjoy!

A hidden gem in the Twin Cities. This is a great spot for bird watching, hiking and exploring! We visit often year round. It's free and also has a great visitors center. Great spot to go with kids too ...

Went to the Refuge from our hotel - great trails down the Minnesota River. Well down facilities. Location is obscure so I can't imagine a lot of tourist traffic.

It all started that we visited on a Monday - the visitor center is closed on Mondays. Then we tried the trail and had way too many bugs flying around our heads - despite bug spray.

We enjoyed a short but great woodsy hike in the refuge last summer. It was 'mosquitoey', so be sure to include bug spray as well as sunscreen in your pack. The hike was up and down some hills (not wheelchair or stroller friendly) so wear...More

A wonderful place for a walk. Take a break, take a date, take your family to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. While the Bloomington Education and Visitor Center is snuggled in the eastern end of Bloomington, there are trails throughout the refuge. An additional...More

Took our family to the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge. Website said it was closed on Sundays, but they are actually open. We had kids ranging from 4 to 15 in ages with us. In the visitor center, the ranger on duty scolded the kids...More

Deet is for tick and mosquito spray. Ticks are most active in the spring. Just check yourself when you come in from outside. Behind the ears are quite common for them to burrow. We like OFF Deep Woods. Mosquitoes are... More
