This was on the list of must's in the area ... it's a series of large building .. this once was the state sanitarium and they renovated the building and revitalized it for restaurants and shops. We unfortunately found it just minutes after it closed...More

There's not a lot here, but some of the shops have some really cool and interesting stuff. It's a great idea, converting a mental asylum to shops, offices and apartments. Just needs more.

We used to drive these grounds 20 years ago with our children, looking at the boarded up vacant hospital. It was fascinating but spooky. The transformation is amazing. Great shops that still show some of the old details of that past history.

We loved the tour and flight of gelato we found in the shopping section. So many quant shops and friendly people. If you appreciate the history of mental health and Traverse City, the tour is worth while. Plan ahead and schedule a tour though. Lots...More

A friend and I took a guided tour of the grounds. Simply amazing! Very informational, entertaining and worth the time and money. Our favorite part was seeing the steam tunnel. We can't wait to return for the Twilight Tour next time we are visiting.

Interesting spot for shopping and dining. Located inside is a great spot for brunch and a cheesecake shop as well.

There are many old photos with descriptions as you walk around. You may certainly walk around as I did and get a feel for the place as it was. But you are experiencing it as it is as well.
