Inuit art collection

Interesting special exhibitions and a permanent collection of Inuit art. Check the hours it's open before heading out.

Our visit coincided with a business trip - and we really enjoyed our tour. The parking lot is separate, so make sure you got the code to exit. The receptionist was helpful and informative. The manager helped us setup a video presentation in a small gallery - which was outstanding. Good open space at entrance to help the kids burn... More

We were most surprised to find such a beautiful museum in a resort centric town. Extensive Inuit art collection. Wonderful way to spend a few hours.

A very surprising find. One of the most engaging and technologically - sophisticated exploratoriums we've found outside of a major city...excellent for kids and grown-ups. The Inuit collection is also really excellent.

We went here to view the Inuit art and carvings and were amazed at their huge selection. It was wonderful. Not expected in Michigan since art is all from northern Canada.

I love coming to Dennos. There is lots of Inuit art and cultural insight as always, but on this visit there was also exhibits on "Grandmother Power" and one featuring the art of Jean Larson inspired by the Icelandic landscape. Dennos was open late on the day I went—until 8pm on Thursdays!—and spent a lovely 90 minutes or so browsing.... More

Major emphasis upon Inuit art from artists in the Canadian Arctic area. They employ stencils, etchings, engravings, and more. It was a great way to spend part of a rainy day.

We were drawn to this little gem because of its Inuit art collection but enjoyed everything they had on display. Admittance is very inexpensive and worth every penny. We loved the Inuit sculptures and paintings in many media, and were surprised to see a real (taxidermy) polar bear, seal and musk ox. Also inside were a Warhol "installation" piece, as... More

Thank you for your review. We at the Dennos are pleased that you found your visit enjoyable and worthwhile. Since your visit we have transitioned to new exhibitions, but the Inuit Art is always here. We will also be making a big transition beginning soon as the museum will be adding new galleries to showcase its permanent art collection and... More

Traverse City is a resort town, with a lot going on, and we were just passing through on our way south. But one of TwoInMaine's travel companions on this trip know of Mr. TIM's strong interest in Inuit art, and suggested a stop at Dennos Museum Center. What a wonderful surprise. The Inuit and Northwest First Nations collection is outstanding,... More
