We planted our first vines in 1973 and established our vineyards in 1976. We exclusively produce sparkling wine using both the traditional method (bottle fermented) and cuve close (tank fermented) methods. L. Mawby wines are traditional method sparkling wines produced entirely from Leelanau Peninsula wine grapes. M.Lawrence wines are cuve close sparklers produced from Michigan and other wine grapes. Our tasting room is open to the public and our hours very depending on the season. May - Oct: Monday - Saturday, 12-6pm and Sunday, 12-5pm. Nov. - Apr: Wednesday - Sunday, 12-5pm.

I'm a sparkling wine lover, so I was excited to head to L. Mawby, which bills itself as the only solo sparkling winery on the peninsula near Traverse City. I left very disappointed. First, the tasting experience was horrible. We arrived and were quickly shooed...More

The winery was cute and in a nice setting. The wine tasting was free for three wines. I enjoyed the wines which were all sparkling and bought several bottles.

This winery is one of my favorites in the area. Be warned they only serve sparkling wines, so don't bother to go if that isn't your thing. Seems like people would research beforehand and realize that, so nothing but positive comments from me since I...More

We had high hopes for L Mawby, as we were told that this was the first winery on the peninsula and he’s been making wine for 30 years. What we didn’t know was that they only make sparkling wines. The wines were good, but they...More

L. Mawby has a great, fun staff and wonderful sparkling wines and now cider. SEX is a sparkling rose and my personal favorite. Can't say enough good things about this place.

Every time we come up to Traverse City, this is one of the vineyards we always stop at. Husband always buys a couple bottles from these folks. They are known for their sparkling etc. It's a pretty loud place acoustically.

This was our 2nd stop along the TART bike trail. A friendly staff offered a couple of free "tastes" and a scenic view over the vineyard.
