Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Beech Woods Golf Course is one of 2 public 9-hole golf courses owned by the City of Southfield. It's on Beech Road, south of 9 Mile Rd, more toward the southwest corner of the City. I really enjoy playing here, even though this course makes a fool of me most every time I play it, which is often. It doesn't get as much play as the more centrally located Evergreen Hills, partly because of its location, and partly, I believe, because this short but golf-ball-gobbling course is frustrating for average male golfers like me who tend to want to hit the ball long but don't have the accuracy to stay out of trouble here. The course is short, only about 2,750 yards from the longest tees, and heavily treed with old-growth trees. This course looks like it has been here a long time; the trees are gigantic and mature and everywhere. Each hole has it's own unique personality; none are boring. Many seem deceptively simple until you realize that one lone tree is in your way. On several holes, the trees form a canopy over the fairway, so if you don't place your shot in just the right spot, you can't hit your usual high approach shot, or the tree branches will swat it down. You have to learn to hit a low roller approach. There are no highways or office buildings or even many homes visible from the course; at any one time, you are alone with your own golf hole and a partial view of another. Quite beautiful. Men, stifle the urge to hit a long ball. Just try to keep it on the fairway. Once it goes into the woods, most of the time you'll never find it. Take a lot of extra balls. Use up your shag bag; don't use new balls unless you really know what you're doing! In pretty good condition for a public course. The greens are a bit slow. The staff is friendly and helpful. You can get a substantial discount if you prepay for 10 rounds (actually 11) and that's good for either city courses even if you, like me, are a non-resident. The adjacent driving range is excellent because during the summer months it has grass tees, and during the winter months it has covered, heated tees.
