Very pretty grounds with a beautiful beach full of colored rocks. The Museum was minimal and the shop couldn't sell anything because they were changing their system, but the people were very nice.

Having visited during their off-season, the lighthouse itself was not open for tours. The grounds, however, are always accessible, and always worth the trip. There is a handicap accessible walking trail that is all either paved or improved with wooden decking with safety rails and...More

I'm not overly excited by lighthouses, but this one is a neat one even if it's snowy and it is closed. Take the time to walk the boardwalk and search for some unique photo opportunities. Perhaps you will want to get down by the water,...More

I visit this place every time I go to the UP. It has a very nice boardwalk along Lake Superior and it is close enough to the Soo Locks that freighters pass by regularly. The lighthouse itself is beautiful and if you are so inclined,...More

Four of us spent the weekend here in 3 of the cute, sea themed rooms in the Crew Quarters. Loved the entire weekend. Went up into the lighthouse. The Museum is wonderful. It also includes things from the Edmund Fitzgerald.

This lighthouse is easy to access and it is very well maintained. We were there in the off season so it wasn't crowded. The grounds were very nice.

Wanted to stop here to purchase the map of all the ships that sank on The Great Lakes. They had it reasonably priced too. Framed and unframed in the gift shop. We make this a stop every visit to th Soo.

We came in the winter so the light station was closed but we walked all around and down to Lake Superior. It was beautiful with all the snow and scenery.

It is worth a visit, a nice lighthouse with nice staff/volunteers. With a lot of stairs to the top but with nice views. Nice pictures in different lights from inside but also from outside it.

The parking lot and boardwalk to Lake Superior are pretty much always open, even in winter if you have a vehicle that can get you in. Bathrooms and lighthouse itself will vary...usually open until at least 5:00 and summer... More
This writer states the lighthouse is closed on Mondays, however, the website for the lighthouse states it is open seven days a week. Which is correct ?

You can visit the grounds at any time, so in that respect, it is open 7 days a week. To actually visit the museum or climb the spiral staircase up to the top of the lighthouse, the times vary. If I wanted to know for... More
