Seeing how and experiencing the locks working was interesting. The trip takes about 2.5 hours and quite franking becomes boring after you have seen how the locks work. Other than the locks the scenery is pretty grubby as you float around filling in time. Viewing and smelling steel smelters is not my idea of entertainment.

The locks are great! We watched the freighters go through the locks and then we rented a tour that tooks us through the locks on a boat so you can experience it first hand. That's alot of water! It's neat to see all the working parts of the Locks and to see the side of Canada up close and personal!... More

I always love to watch the freighters and ships, especially at night when they are all lit up, they cease to amaze me.

Since I live here I take this beautiful place for granted. It is amazing how close you can see the freighters when the go by. It is very informative if you watch the video's in the visitor information center that explain how the ship's traverse through the locks. The surrounding area of the park is beautiful with a lighted fountain... More

We drove up from Mackinac City to see the Locks. First off thought the town itself would be nicer than it was. Guess I was expecting smaller and more quaint....not sure why?!!We were greeted though by beautiful tulips and flowers as we entered the Locks complex. Interesting and amazing information and diagrams on the walls. The minds of men (maybe... More

Amazing view! Very quiet and quite impressive. Make sure you bring a jacket and warm socks, it's very cold.

Thi's is an incredible thing to see when huge ships go through the locks. You need to be patient, though, because it is not a fast process. There is an observation tower which provides a good view and you can call ahead to the visitor's center to find out the approximate arrival time of the ships. Be sure to stop... More

So cool, loved coming to the locks. Teens loved it, 11 years old and 50 plus loved it. Call the visitor's center to get the ship hotline so you know when ships are coming in. Great staff. Very helpful.

We visited the Soo locks while we were in town for the LSSU graduation. It was very interesting espevially to the children. Several boats went through while we were there. We were able to go in the viditor center and see the times the boats would arrive. Fun for all ages. I recommend!
