The Tower of History has Native American artifacts and 15 min video on the early history of Sault Ste. Marie, MI in the lower level. Express elevator up to a series of observation decks, one glass enclosed and 2 open aired levels for the 360 degree view of Sault Ste. Marie MI and Ontario plus the St. Mary's River System. Great place to view passing Freighters!

Stopped in to climb to the top and the signs outside listed the open hours. Parked and walked up only to find that it was not yet open for the Summer season

If you are like me, you really enjoy an "elevated perspective." At the Tower of History you get a LOT of elevated perspective. All of the Sault Locks - both American and Canadian - are right in front of you. But you get much more: a panoramic view of Sault Saint Marie, Ontario and a 360 degree perspective on Sault... More

Sometimes a high vantage point can give a new perspective to what y ou have seen from ground level. taking the elevator to the top of the tower then seeing the locks from the viewing platforms gives such a perspective

Highly recommend an hour here. Multiple levels of scenes found no where else in the area. They have a very informative video playing as well, but they would make accommodations a little more formal and not so crude.

On our visit , she was closed for the season ! But, we then met the Janitor/Overseer (Paul) who offered to open up for Us ! What a great offer to a couple he had just met & showed a level of honesty that nowadays is unheard of !! Short answer I said no , didn't want to put him... More

Pretty spectacular view of the river. Watched a couple of ships pass. Great for taking photos, good unobstructed views. Price was lower than I expected.

The tower has a very small museum and an outstanding view at the top of the tower. We were lucky and got to see a ship pass into and out of the locks. We visited the area in late October and the tree were just turning colors. The tower also gives a great view of the bridge that connects the... More

Great views from the four viewing platforms. Great picture taking from here! You can do open air decks or glassed observation areas and watch St. Mary's river and Canada. You are at a height of 210 feet. You can see as far as 20 miles on a clear day.

The views from the top were nice. The exhibits were OK. I was not really impressed and think it's overpriced.

I have visited this area several times as I have a family member who lives nearby. During our most recent visit to the Soo we decided to finally check out this Tower of History. The admission price was $7 per person and there is a guest book to sign. Some of the history exhibits begin right as you enter the... More
