Decided to do this hike at the last minute. The path is well groomed, the hike is very easy and enjoyable (we even carried a two-year old most of the way up and back), and the views will take your breath away. A few others...More

We walked up to the cirque from Gavarnie. It took between 1-1.5hours to asend for us as we are not the fittest of people, but it is easily doable for someone who doesn't hike. It was 5 euros to park in the carpark so remember...More

We stayed at the castle-like hotel Vignemale (the VIEW FROM OUR WINDOW was JAW DROPPING) and enjoyed our hike to the tallest waterfall in Europe- it was so picturesque. Give an hour each way and leave some time to explore and play at the falls-...More

It is easy to understand why English Romantic novelist loved visiting Cirque de Gavarnie. It is nature at its most beautiful. It is huge, awesome, exciting, even in the summer. As much a must see in your lifetime as the Grand Canyon.

A magical place, strolling along the river you leave civilisation behind and climb into a wild river valley surrounded by mountains. Whilst it was quite busy it's still a majestic sight to behold, and the first part of the walk wasn't too strenuous even for...More

I am planning a visit for January and would like to do winter activities like sledging and dog sleding. Do I have to book prior? Are there any other tourist attractions to visit while spending the day there?

I was staying in Lourdes doing a pilgrimage with Pilgrimages abroad. So I wouldn't be too sure. However, there seemed to be plenty of hostels and camping in the area. You may have to do some online research or perhaps... More
