More than a "very eye-appealing" look of it from across the street, my suggestion is to take a bit of time right in front and look up this great facade to take in the beauty of its "intricate designs" (such as the small pillars & such to see clearly at just slightly above to the Virgin statue all the way at the top), and yes this is one church where it was for me more time "outside than inside" just for the "sheer beauty" of its front face (although not a unique one with actually also another quite an awesome facade coming to mind which had been seen in Porto Alegre just about a year prior to this). Arriving from Managua (by a "collectivo minivan" from the roadside UCA station or such for about a 2-hour ride) is at the "outdoor terminal" from which it's about a 20-minute walk south to like the "general area" of the town's churches where this church is although the best I would say would be to take one of those foot-pedaled tuk-tuks or such (not as straight-forward as in Granada where the collectivo brings you right to Parque Central with the town's "main cathedral" right on one side of the Plaza). And yes afterward, actually just immediately to the left after coming out of this church is some sizeable "indoor market" (with miscellaneous stuff inside & food at like along the row outside) and where after just a very short walk of a minute or two alongside that market is the town's "main cathedral" (its back side where to turn right to get to the front side) which according to its reputation is "the largest one" of Central America (with a spacious interior to walk around, then 2 levels of the rooftop with quite a number of these "lovely cupolas" to see close up & some nice distant views in all directions).…

This is a cathedral that permits visitors to go up the spire to look out. There are very rickety wooden stairs leading up if you dare! Not a lot to see in this poor country.

Situated in the main square of the city, this church has a very imposing facade. Internally it is not as stunning but quite plain. However well worth a visit in a city that hasn't a lot to offer.

Outside looks like the church needs some repairs and the clock handles are missing from the clock tower. Inside it is peaceful, with plush purple drapes covering the pillars on either side of the church and an illuminated statue of the virgin Mary taking a prominent position at the front of the church.…
