Superb collection ranging from 16 Century religious art to contemporary abstract. Includes collection of Goya and traditional naive painting. At the time of writing only half the exhibits are available to see as emergency maintenance work is being done to the building. However it's still worth seeing and if you ask the curator as I did, you may get in... More

this is a gorgeous gallery that is not to be missed. One point that could easily be remedied: please hire some art students from the university to give tours in English. It is a shame to have staff standing around and not have tours conducted through all opening hours. If you really want a world class gallery, you can't simply... More

Free (donation requested) on Sunday! We enjoyed this museum very much, relaxing way to spend on a hot afternoon in Leon. Easy location close to the parque central. Great art and lovely water features.

If this gallery was in any city in Europe or North America there would be a queue to get in every morning. You can enter on your own or take a guided tour through the two well preserved colonial houses that make up this gallery which has everything from local, to Nicaraguan, to Central American, to Latin American art and... Spent an afternoon visiting some of Leon's museums and this art museum was very interesting. There are 2 separate buildings in which to view a varied array of Latin American art. The first is comprised of more modern pieces with a darker commentary. The second building used to be a private villa and contains art work from famous older masters... More

Quite a collection probably paid for with coffee revenue. The house and gardens are also a picture worth seeing.

I really enjoyed my time at this museum, and wish I had given myself a bit more time there. There are two sections across the street from one another - the first, where you enter and pay, has exclusively modern art and special exhibits (it seems - it was a Goya/Dali event while I was there, really cool) and the... Enormous collection of the finest art of Central & South America. Truly blew my mind. I recommend getting a guide for the full flavor. The setting is a private home that is also unique. Besides paintIngs there are sculptures and ceramics. Highly recommend it.

The Gallery has an amazing collection of Latin American artists, pottery and sculpture. On our visit there is currently an exhibit featuring works of Goya and Dali "los Capruchos de Goya intervenidos por Dali". Amazing!
