So impressed by this museum! Really wonderful and diverse collection of art from Picasso to Warhol to plenty of Central American and Nicaraguan works of art. Beautiful setting in connecting colonial era houses beautifully modernized. Plus, staff who worked there clearly take pride in the collection and were very friendly and helpful pointing me in the right direction. Definitely recommend!

An absolute delight to visit Léon’s art museum today. I would say that there is something for everyone; from fabulous local artists, to an entire room of Picasso prints and some very weird and wonderful exhibits. This is a must in Léon!

The Museo de Arte Fundación Ortiz-Gurdian was a definitely highlight for our visit to Léon. As with most places in Léon, there is no air conditioning, so I recommend going in the morning, It has an EXTENSIVE collection of art primarily from Central and South America. The art spans traditional-classical to modern abstract. We spent 2.5 hours wandering through it. This is a place we will visit again when we next visit Léon.

An extensive eclectic mix of art from early European to contemporary International and local artists.
The elegant, cool building with shady courtyard and lush vegetation is a great place to sit and think.
The vivid pop art and the video installation of the revolution cover a vast array of styles and messages.
The room stewards are friendly and helpful.

This is quite a stunning art gallery in a place you would least expect it.

Cost is 3 USD entry.

You can walk here - it’s only a couple of blocks from parque central.

Its spread across two buildings which are on opposite sides of the road. The building containing the ticket booth has maybe 20% while the building opposite has the remaining 80%. The buildings themselves are quite peaceful - built in the traditional patio around a central courtyard style.

There is a offering here for everyone - Central American art, Nicaraguan art and a number of international pieces. I was quite surprised to find works by Mozart and Andy Warhol among other well known international artists.

Definitely worth visiting if you’re in Leon.

Surprisingly good museum with a plethora of art, it primarily features Central American artists. All are nicely placed in galleries facing each other across the street.

My favorite was a collection of 12 well preserved indigenous pottery items. I also found Rembrant, Picasso, Warhol, and Basquiat paintings. This is a museum that needs multiple visits, so there may be more internationally known artists as well.

An amazing expanse of Latin American artwork, plus others, spread over 5 houses, each with its own courtyard. Peaceful. A respite from the city. An absolute MUST if you go to Leon. Allow time to get entranced by one or more pieces of surprising art.
These are wonderful collections!!!

A plethora of art from around the world, and also Central America. It was divided into rooms and corridors following the original structure of the house. I enjoyed all the Central American pieces , that is what i went to see. This Gallery cannot be missed, and its only $3 entry.

We entered the gallery and were told that there was one room that side of the road but 5 on the other side. What they didn't say was that each room has several side rooms. The collection is enormous and sadly had to gallop around all too quickly. You need 2-3 hours to have a proper look at everything. Mostly Latin American artists, but a few others too. (Picasso, Chargall, Warhol) The religious art does not do anything for me, but the whole place is set out so well, so quiet and peaceful with a small garden in the middle. The attendants were careful to switch the lights on and off as you entered and left each room - both for economy and conservation of the works. The buildings must have been wonderful houses at some point.
