Super fun

Unreal experience!!! Don't listen to people when they say it's unsafe. You can 100% control your speed as slow or as fast as you want to go. So so much fun!

Who ever comes to Leòn must visit this volcano. There are tours which is much better than going by itself. Transportation is heavy duty Those who loves volcanes' sand surfing excellent place for it

This adventure was incredible. There is no experience like this in the world that is for sure. You start by hiking up the volcano with your sled and gear. This is the toughest part and in that hot central American heat is NOT for the faint of heart. Once you make it to the top though. WOW. The views and... More

45 minute hike up the mountain. It's pretty rugged. I am in my 50's, not the best shape, and I made it up. The ride down is surreal. Sledding on volcanic ash was a blast. Would definitely to it again.

Pay the porter to carry your board! It's a hot way to the top, but so much fun going down. Big Foot takes photos of you and posts them on Facebook.

We did volcano boarding through Bigfoot Hostel and it was one of the best activities of our trip! We weren't expecting much, but the drive out to the volcano allowed us to see more of Leon, and the hike up the volcano itself was quite stunning (and it was a relatively quick hike, about 30 minutes and not too steep... We did the volcano boarding with quetzal trekkers since they offer it for the same price than any other organization (30US$) but you board down twice (you're gonna do it twice for sure) and entrance is included! Plus they don't try to make profit but give the money to local projects about which you can read more in their office.... More

I did the Volcano Boarding through one of the local hostels and it was the coolest thing I've maybe ever done. Quite and adrenaline rush if you go fast. Beautiful views. A must-see.

Well worth the trek, either on your own or with a tour guide. (We did it with a tour guide as part of a volcano boarding experience) View from the top simply stunning, pictures just do not do it justice!

My husband and I drove from Granada just to do this our last night in Nicaragua. We talked about it for a few months and it was on our list of must do's. For some reason we got it into our head that we could just drive straight to the volcano and figure it out from there without having paying... More
